Tehillim* Poem
By: Gina G.
8th Grade. Age 13
When David Hamelech found times were bad
Or something happened that made him sad
Or something joyous filled his heart
Or something tore his holy land apart
To Hashem he would turn
For his love he would yearn
For calm, comfort, and support
Always the first and last resort
From his pen the words did flow
Deep as oceans, pure as snow
Bright as gold and soft as a breeze
Like flowing honey to the bees
And so his thoughts come to my mind
When peace and comfort I cannot find
When grandpa's lost or grandma's ill
The answer lies not in a simple pill
When it seems my hands are tethered
And my emotions tossed and weathered
Hope seems lost and skies seem dark
Life seems cold and without a spark
Just then Tehillim lights the way
And points me to a brighter day
Remind me not to despair
Because my burdens and joys Hashem does share
